ChatGPT launches a year-end review like Spotify Wrapped
OpenAI has launched a new feature that mirrors the viral appeal of Spotify Wrapped. The ChatGPT year-end review, officially called “Your Year with ChatGPT,” offers eligible users a personalized, visually rich summary of how they interacted with the AI over the past year.
The feature is currently rolling out to select markets, including the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, and New Zealand, and is available across both web and mobile apps on iOS and Android.

Who can access “Your Year with ChatGPT”?
The year-end review is available to users on Free, Plus, and Pro plans, provided they meet certain conditions:
- “Reference saved memories” must be enabled
- “Reference chat history” must be turned on
- Users must meet a minimum conversation activity threshold
However, Team, Enterprise, and Education accounts are excluded from the experience.
According to OpenAI, the feature is intentionally designed to be lightweight, privacy-forward, and fully user-controlled, ensuring users remain in charge of what data is referenced.

How the ChatGPT year-end review works
Much like Spotify Wrapped, ChatGPT’s year-end review uses playful graphics and personalized insights to reflect a user’s habits. The experience highlights:
- Your most common topics and use cases
- “Awards” based on how you used ChatGPT, such as Creative Debugger
- A custom-generated poem summarizing your year
- An AI-generated image inspired by your interests
Rather than opening automatically, the feature appears as an optional prompt on the ChatGPT home screen. Users can also manually activate it by typing “Your Year with ChatGPT” into the chat.

Why OpenAI built a Spotify Wrapped-style recap
The launch signals OpenAI’s push to make ChatGPT more consumer-friendly and emotionally engaging, especially as competition in the AI assistant space intensifies. By adopting a familiar, shareable format like Spotify Wrapped, OpenAI encourages deeper user connection while showcasing how embedded ChatGPT has become in daily life.
The move also reflects a broader industry trend where apps increasingly use annual summaries to boost engagement, retention, and social sharing.

What this means for ChatGPT users
For users, the ChatGPT year-end review offers a fun and reflective way to understand how they’ve relied on AI for learning, creativity, productivity, and problem-solving. It also reinforces ChatGPT’s role not just as a tool, but as a personal assistant woven into everyday workflows.
As OpenAI continues to expand personalization features heading into 2026, “Your Year with ChatGPT” may become a recurring tradition, much like Spotify Wrapped itself.
