The MetaMask onchain rewards program is set to launch within weeks, bringing new incentives for Web3 users. MetaMask, developed by ConsenSys, announced on X that the initiative will distribute over $30 million in LINEA token rewards during its first season.
What the MetaMask Rewards Program Includes
The new program will feature:
- Referral rewards for active users
- mUSD incentives
- Exclusive partner bonuses
- Access to special tokens and perks
According to MetaMask, the initiative is designed to reward long-time users and encourage active participation across its ecosystem. It will operate on the LINEA network, ConsenSys’s Ethereum Layer 2 scaling solution.
LINEA and MetaMask’s Growing Ecosystem
LINEA, launched in September, has a total token supply of 9.4 billion and aims to enhance scalability and lower transaction fees for Ethereum applications. The integration with the MetaMask onchain rewards program shows ConsenSys’s push toward unifying its major blockchain products.
MetaMask confirmed that early adopters and existing users will receive special benefits. The company emphasized that this is not a farming play, but rather a sustained community reward model connected to the upcoming MASK token.
The MASK Token and mUSD Stablecoin
Ethereum co-founder and ConsenSys CEO Joseph Lubin previously confirmed that the MASK token will contribute to decentralizing parts of MetaMask’s infrastructure. The token’s development aligns with the wallet’s goal of expanding governance and ownership opportunities within its ecosystem.
Around the same time, MetaMask launched mUSD, a stablecoin issued by Stripe-owned Bridge. mUSD is available on Ethereum and Linea and has a circulating supply of $87.7 million. It is not yield-bearing, but it plays a key role in MetaMask’s upcoming incentive model.
Community Reactions and Concerns
Reactions to MetaMask’s announcement were mixed. Some praised the expansion as a move toward greater user engagement, while others expressed skepticism. Critics on X questioned whether certain regions would be excluded or if MetaMask would implement anti-Sybil measures to prevent reward abuse.
Despite the criticism, MetaMask’s announcement positions it as one of the first major Web3 wallets to combine a rewards system with token incentives and a stablecoin economy.
What to Expect Next
The MetaMask onchain rewards program is expected to go live in the next few weeks. Details about eligibility, country restrictions, and reward distribution methods will likely follow.
For now, users can prepare by updating their MetaMask wallet and engaging with the Linea network to position themselves for potential rewards once the rollout begins.
