The American University Emerging Global Leader Scholarship (AU EGLS) is designed for high-achieving international students who want to pursue a bachelor’s degree in the United States. It supports students committed to driving positive civic and social change in their home countries, especially in under-resourced and underserved communities.

Scholarship Coverage
- Full scholarship: Covers full tuition, room, and board
- Partial scholarship: Up to USD $40,000 per year
- Not covered: mandatory health insurance, books, airline tickets, and personal expenses (approx. USD $4,000 per year)
- Renewable for up to four years of undergraduate study, subject to satisfactory academic performance
Eligibility
Preference goes to students who:
- Have overcome challenges or come from diverse, underrepresented, or low-income backgrounds
- Show leadership, volunteerism, or community service commitment
- Intend to return home to contribute to local development
- Meet English proficiency requirements
- Are currently in secondary/high school and graduating by June 2026
Not eligible if:
- You are a U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or dual citizen
- You are already enrolled in or completed post-secondary studies in the U.S. or elsewhere
- You graduated secondary school before 2023
